The Troutman Police Department accepts applications from certified officers and qualified candidates. Police roles require a completed Town application and an Authorization for Release of Personal Information, both in the Forms & Documents library.

Minimum requirements
- Valid NC driver's license (or the ability to obtain one)
- Honorable discharge if prior military
- NC BLET graduate — or equivalent certification recognized by NC
Hiring process
- Complete the Town application and Authorization for Release of Personal Information
- Police Officer Physical Abilities Test (POPAT) for recruit candidates
- Interviews, background investigation, and additional screening
- Conditional offer of employment
