Town of TroutmanNorth Carolina · Est. 1905

Government

Citizen boards & committees.

Troutman's citizen advisory bodies do the careful, unglamorous work of a functioning small-town government — hearing variance requests, reviewing designs, and recommending land use decisions to Council. Serving on a board is one of the most direct ways to shape the Town.

Board of Adjustment

Hears variance requests, Special Use Permits, and appeals of decisions made under the Unified Development Ordinance.

5-member citizen body — 3 in-town, 2 ETJ — plus 2 alternates.

As scheduled; agendas posted on the Agendas & Minutes page.

Design Review Board

Reviews and approves the appearance of multi-family and non-residential buildings and alternative landscape designs. Priority is given to applicants with design, architecture, or planning backgrounds.

As scheduled; agendas posted on the Agendas & Minutes page.

Planning & Zoning Board

Recommends action on site plans, subdivisions, text and map amendments, and rezoning requests to Town Council.

7-member citizen body — 4 in-town, 3 ETJ — plus 2 alternates.

Monthly; agendas posted on the Agendas & Minutes page.

ABC Board

Oversees and distributes proceeds of alcohol sales, operates the Town's ABC store, and enforces the alcohol laws of the State of North Carolina.

Meets as needed.

Miscellaneous & Special Events

Beyond the standing boards, the Town regularly needs volunteers for festivals, races, and special events. Opportunities are year-round and open to students, civic groups, and businesses.
